Our client, the Sustainability Research Group of a major financial services firm that provides research and recommendations in the asset management industry, retained SCA to prepare comment letters to regulators and produce research papers in (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ESG investing.
For instance, Morningstar retained SCA to draft a Comment Letter to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding a proposed rule (Procedural Requirements and Resubmission Thresholds under Exchange Act Rule 14a-8).
Regarding the production of research papers for Morningstar, SCA helped published:
a paper detailing the implications of a growing awareness of the financial materiality of ESG considerations and how it affects the role of asset managers in corporate governance;
an article arguing that asset managers should shift to active ownership strategies such as engaging in voting matters regarding social and environmental issues;
a paper examining the role of asset managers in the global stewardship movement; and
a paper arguing for the need for more active asset managers in addressing ESG risks.
